Brooklyn Bankshot Playcourt receives 2021 architect award from Landscape Architect Magazine

Bankshot is proud to announce the 2021 Design Award Dr. Reeve Brenner and the Bankshot Playcourt system received from Landscape Architect magazine. The system is located at the Betsy Head Park in Brownsville, Brooklyn. At Bankshot Total-Mix diversity is realized based on Universal Design. The inclusion that a non-running ball playing sport achieves scores as uniting the community at a strikingly attractive play amenity. The game was designed for self-competitive non-contact alongside play. See article attached. No winners; no losers - pure self-improvement play.

Award notes: "Betsy Head Park in Brownsville, Brooklyn offers first-of-its-kind play equipment. Through the landscape architecture expertise of Abel Bainnson Butz, the unique, historic, two parceled, 10.5-acre park was brought back to its former beauty with modern additions. Bankshot Basketball is a self-competitive, non-running, inclusionary game that accommodates wheelchair players. The physically and cognitively challenged, as well as seniors adults and children of all ages. The benches replicate those from the 1939 World’s Fair.
